The 6-3 Sevastopol Pioneers battle the 7-2 Northwood/Solon Springs Evergreens this afternoon from Steihm Stadium outside of Wausau on 96.7 WBDK in the 2016 WIAA Jamboree. This marks the second in as many years the Pioneers have qualified for annual 8-man football post season slate of games, falling last year to Siren 28-22. It’s been a couple weeks since Sevastopol last played, falling to Wisconsin Heights 44-26 after the Vanguards rattled off 22 straight points in the third quarter to put the game out of reach. It’s been even longer for the Evergreens, who haven’t won an actual game since September 16 and have only played 2 games in 6 weeks, registering forfeits against Birchwood and New Auburn.
the Wisconsin Sports Network released their finalists for offensive player of the year and defensive player of the year. Sevastopol Hunter Ebel cracked the list for offensive player of the year. Ebel threw for 608 yards and nine touchdowns, rushed for 448 yards and three scores and even collected 113 yards on three receptions and a touchdown as a receiver. He also registered three touchdowns as a kick returner and collected five interceptions on defense.
Brandon Enroth and Tim Kowols will have the call, beginning with the Welsing’s Foodland pregame show starting at 12:30 p.m. and kickoff at 1 p.m. or at the conclusion of the Siren/N.E.W. Lutheran football game.
