WRLU 104.1 FM called an exciting sectional semi-final soccer match in Fon du Lac last night between the Sturgeon Bay Clippers and Winnebago Lutheran Viking. The defending state champion Clippers fell 3-1 to the number one ranked team in the state in what Coach Todd Maas said was a really hard fought game by both teams.
Sturgeon Bay’s lone goal was assisted by Jaden Stevenson and scored by Nick Greenlaw and tied the game at 1-1 midway through the first half. The Vikings tacked on two second half goals to seal the game. The Clippers fail to make the state tournament for just the second time in six seasons.
