Door County National Alliance for Mental Illness Awareness (NAMI) is looking for parents and relatives to get involved and re-energize their mission of providing advocacy to those affected by mental illness. A reorganizational meeting is set for Tuesday evening at 6:30 at the Sturgeon Bay Library. Secretary on NAMI Door County Board of Directors Paul Klapatch says the hopes are to generate a more powerful grassroots effort to continue and expand programs provided in the area to deal with mental health.
One out of six people in the US will be affected by mental health concerns in their lifetime. NAMI Door County has been around for the past 25 years with programs including Family to Family, Peer to Peer Support, and Parents and Teachers as Allies.
