Pool Of Job Applicants For Area Law Enforcement Are Dwindling

Sturgeon Bay, WI, United States /
Sheriff Matt Joski

With increased scrutiny on the police throughout the country, more and more law enforcement departments are finding it hard to recruit and retain officers.  Kewaunee County Sheriff Matt Joski says his department is fortunate not to have much turnover but the pool of applicants in law enforcement is getting smaller locally.

Joski says he will not lower the standards set by the police department to find personnel, like some law enforcement agencies have nationally.  He also noted that budget cuts in reducing salary and benefits in the recent years, has made law enforcement careers less lucrative.
