The Door County Sheriff’s Department is crediting multiple county, state, and federal agencies for putting a town of Jacksonport man behind bars for drug offenses. Kevin Anschutz was arrested Wednesday after the Door-Kewaunee Drug Task Force found several different types of drugs along with a digital scale, packaging materials, and a firearm. Authorities were tipped off by federal authorities when an U.S. Postal package with heroin destined for Anschutz’s address was confiscated. Sheriff Steve Delarwelle says agencies like the Door-Kewaunee Drug Task Force teaming up with U.S. Postal Service are not uncommon.
Delarwelle says Anschutz was not on their radar as a possible drug offender before this incident. The tip from the U.S. Postal Inspection Service, Department of Homeland Security, and the Drug Enforcement Administration allowed local law enforcement to obtain a search warrant much quicker than usual.
